about
"'Spectral' was a bit of a behemoth of a project which took over our lives for a few months, there. Wanting something amped up with a wide, synthy sound we basically got stuck into making the sound fun to listen to. I love the feeling of being carried along in the flow of a track.
We got to do two of my favourite silly metal tropes, too, in the layered harsh vocals and the back-and-forth clean and harsh between Pat and Jessie. Jessie was great to work with - me being kind of a musical airhead, my bandmates getting excited to bring her on board was actually my introduction to her music! Lovely person, and absolutely brought the cool to this one. It's also my first time doing bass for DS, so trying to do a good job there took over my life a little extra, too. You always want to do your best, right?" - Felix King
"The lyrics of Spectral are about how society lends itself to isolation and overwork, preventing us from living our lives in a purposeful and healthy way. The Japanese term "karoshi" comes to mind. As far as I can see, this is only getting worse with time, so we need to make changes, and fight back against our fates, before we fade away." - Patrick
