Sky Garden
04:49
|

Majestic creation hanging above the Earth
Celestial destination where ideas are given birth
From across all continents minds meet to discourse
Without fear, their tongues unguarded, people speak without remorse
See how they find their fears of reprisal fade away
Aligning with tribes in polarization day by day
When they are spurred they see no reason to hold back
When back on Earth they would never dare such an attack
All manners of things are constantly changing hands
Amusements, great knowledge available on demand
Yet it is a place where armies form, united by belief
Their tenets are spilling down to the world beneath
See how they find their fears of reprisal fade away
Aligning with tribes in polarization day by day
When they are spurred they see no reason to hold back
When back on Earth they would never dare such an attack...
It's the Sky Garden.
Wars of words become wars of blood upon once civilized streets
Tribal factions formed above are no longer kept discrete
See how they find their fears of reprisal fade away
Aligning with tribes in polarization day by day
When they are spurred they see no reason to hold back
When back on Earth they would never dare such an attack
See how they find their fears of reprisal fade away
Aligning with tribes in polarizaton day by day
Destruction is wrought in chaotic displays of discord
From the Sky Garden the pen has transformed into a sword

Under the Yoke
05:24
|
|||
I am an automaton
Faithful to you every day
At the break of dawn I rise
I swing the hammer and crack the rock
My bones slowly give away
Under the burning glare of sun
Your palace slowly takes shape
When I once dreamed of holding dominion over myself
I'm still yearning to witness the visions I have dreamt
That I mourn
The temple rises from the barren Earth
And reaches for the endless azure sky
A generation is dying in tribute
Many empty joyless fleeting lives
This heart and mind are filled with subtle treasures
Grander things than this I could create
Years pass by as I serve this lie for you
To toil is my fate
I am at your command
Think not of me as human
I simply execute your will
These hands are locked in position
Finger tips have long gone numb
The fine motions upon my instrument
Grind my joints, my songs are all done
For my withering body is the tool of someone else
This hammer is now the only way for me to live
Forever more
The temple rises from the barren Earth
And reaches for the endless azure sky
A generation is dying in tribute
Many empty joyless fleeting lives
This heart and mind are filled with subtle treasures
Grander things than this I could create
Years pass by as I serve this lie for you
To toil is my fate
Slaves to exalted emperor
(Yet he's just another man)
We toil to realize his dream
(The vainest tribute to himself)
For the slightest pittance we strive
(While he lives in endless wealth)
In his proud honour we will die

Hiraeth

Every page
Quickly scrawled in my book
Has hidden treasures to which I now look
When once we lived
Without any care
Hungry to grow, to the future we'd dare
And I'm striving to feel
As we did so long ago, so long ago
Try to recapture the way
It was to live in better days, in better days
I know we never will again
Words always fail
When tried to assign
To the way that it was in that time in my mind
The dusty mementos
In the room where I sleep
Have me suffer again a pain so sweet
Every notch on my belt
Every jewel in my crown
Every badge that I bear from my travels abound
Ring hollow as the years
Increase life's weigh
Compared to the journey of reaching this day
And I'm striving to feel
As we did so long ago, so long ago
Try to recapture the way
It was to live in better days, in better days
Can't stop trying to feel
If only I could turn away, could turn away
In your eyes I see it too
So there's nothing left to say, left to say
I know we never will again

The Night Is My Muse
04:19
|
|||
I must rid myself of tedium
Escape the reservations of a common life
Throw down the trappings that weigh me down
The sun has set
Now out into the night
Aqua vitae, be my guide
Sear away my cares
By the moonlight's glare
Am I finally free?
Is this really me?
The darkness of my inner eclipse
Mutes my modesty and I revel in the night
A craven madness grips my soul
The sun has set
Now out into the night
Aqua vitae, be my guide
Sear away my cares
By the moonlight's glare
Am I finally free?
Is this really me?
Out here my solitude is so sweet
Nary an eye shall judge
Elixir of carelessness, I drink you deep
And shout joy unto the starry sky
The night is my muse
I must feel this forever to truly know myself
Yet a crack of light I see afar
And I know here I shan't remain
The sun must rise
Returning to my life
And within me the truth shall hide

Flood
03:25
|
|||
Time, the great devourer
I stare into the depths of mystery
Strange lands flourished where now they lie deep
In ages of forgotten history
Don't ignore voices of the past
Encoded in the legends of our kin
Under the soil and beneath the waves
Are the places where we did begin
This is the end of all we hold dear
And we will be swept undersea
Earth, great garden of life
How kind you've been this last ten thousand years
As every kingdom rises, it must as well fall
Civilization's end almost near
The time will come for cities to tremble
And disappear into nature's decay
The firmament shifts and the seas rush in
Evidence hidden beneath the waves
This is the end of all we hold dear
And we will be swept undersea
Swept into the sea...

Minor Kings
06:10
|
|||
Whispers on the end of his lips
An old man unaffected by
What they say you need to see
Can you see the tension when they disagree?
Can you see?
Child you do not know what lies in store
You could be an instrument of war
In the ashes all and one remain
Like a fractured group of minor kings
Hold on to the memory
As the candle fades to say goodbye
To all those who came before
Unquenchable greed, they bled the well dry
Can't you see?
I fear you will always live in need
Victims of old decadence and greed
In the ashes all and one remain
Like a fractured group of minor kings
Here they come, the bells of war
Hear them ringing as it comes undone
Hide yourself in my embrace
Our tears fall as we see your world defiled
Child you do not know what lies in store
You could be an instrument of war
In the ashes all and one remain
Fearing what tomorrow brings
Taking flight on chaos wings
Like a fractured group of minor kings

The Rivers Have Parted
04:05
|
|||
Two rivers once ran here
Tracing two winding paths
They breathed life
Through the soil and into our lives
And in our youth
We could barely conceive
Of our great fortune
What we'd wish to retrieve
And now we return
To the place we once knew
But the rivers have parted
Split further askew
And the soil is dry
The dream is long dead
Yet we compete
Over the legacy
We are truly consumed
Over past glories
Then taken for granted
Now defining our every thought
The world is so vast
And ripe for discovery
Yet here we dwell
In thirst and dispute

More Than the Moon
02:18
|
|||
I lie upon a stone
With my gaze turned very high
Needlepricked darkness
Overhead slowly passing by
Endless variation
Being created and destroyed
My outstretched finger points
Towards the vastness of the void
Why remain below
Further we could go
See what lies beyond our skies
Such celestial scenes
Are still beyond our means
Beyond our means, our space machines
A lifetime before mine
They say the kingdoms did compete
To pierce the clouds and rise above
Claim an orbital seat
Risking greatest sacrifice
On lunar soil they walked
Destiny is still calling
More achievments to unlock
Why remain below
Further we should go
See what lies beyond our skies
Must such celestial scenes
Still be the stuff of dreams
Beyond our means, our space machines

A Ray of Sunlight
06:01
|
|||
I live in a place without light
Unyielding clouds block the sky
Exhaling cold mist I look down while walking sodden paths
And there are no stars above while I rest at night
A ray of sun shining through the darkening cover of cloud
Blessing us with vital light
From this tear in ever-grey it showers, raining tears of joy
Raining tears of joy
Can this golden moment last or will it soon fade away?
Recalling the warmth on my face
I now understand this place
Having seen the light I realize now the darkness in which I dwell
Is as a lingering curse without end in sight
It passed as sudden as it came, and clouds close up once more
Return to coldness and grey
From the prevailing ever-grey it showers, tears of sorrow
Raining tears of sorrow
I fear the light will never shine upon this place again
A ray of sun shined through the darkening cover of cloud
