Simon Amazing album, what a crushing atmosphere. The production is stellar, even though it appears there are some problems with the volume levels? Track 3 is much quieter, and track 5 seems louder than the rest.

cmdfvfan This is one of those albums where I'm just like, yes. The writing is superb, production is huge and ugly and fits perfectly.
I could go on about the atmosphere and pure dread mixed with brutality vibes going on here, but I'l just encourage people to buy and listen themselves. Crushing blackened disso death metal. A killer way to end 2024. Favorite track: And Sing an Anthem for the Famine IV.

In the depths of human greed, cruelty, and violence, harmony, symmetry, and beauty seem absent. Similarly, these are missing at the upcoming release of Choir, a solo dissonant Death-Doom artist from Singapore & Brazil, Smithe Thee Smoldering Providence.

The sophomore album will come out on Dec 20th 2024 via Total Dissonance Worship & Violence in the Veins, with exclusive LP prints and designs. The band has also shared the
first single, "And Sing an Anthem for the Famine II”, with a guitar playthrough.

Choir is a dissonant death-doom solo project baptised with the release of ‘songs for a tarnished world’ in 2021.

"Smithe Thee Smoldering Providence" was written following the independent digital release of the first LP, 'songs for a tarnished world'. Unlike the previous LP, which depicted a lifeless world, this album presents narratives from a familiar human perspective. I've always been captivated by the films of Béla Tarr and Andrei Tarkovsky, and their influences are quite apparent here. I like to think of "Smithe Thee Smoldering Providence" as a double feature of two short films, each represented on the side of the physical releases. Side A symbolically cleanses our post-industrial sins in ocean water, while Side B rips at the seams of the ongoing starvation many still endure. Musically, This album aims to be both grander and more intimate than my previous work. The songs are simultaneously faster, slower, more brutal, and more melancholic than those in 'songs'.”

We browse delivery apps from the comfort of our homes for our next meal. Meanwhile, since 2017, undernourishment has been steadily increasing, affecting around 735 million people today. In a similar context, the Global North is sharing the plight of the starving population in Gaza via TikTok and celebrating it. This reflects my personal experiences growing up in the Global South during the 1990s. In Brazil, my home country, we saw a surge in agricultural commodity exports, which bolstered our market share.

Despite this, over 32 million people were grappling with hunger.
